Teen Volunteer Training

Experience ARF's mission and values in action in ARF's Teen Volunteer Training program! High school students: Learn the fundamentals of working in a dynamic non-profit organization while you make a positive change for animals at ARF and in the community. Express your compassion, commitment, and motivation while you build collaboration and leadership skills.

Due to high demand for this program, teens interested in participating in the Teen Volunteer Training program must complete an application. If accepted into the Teen Volunteer program, teens will be required to complete an orientation, in-person interview and training.

Once training is completed, possible volunteer opportunities include:

  • Animal Care and Adoptions
  • Veterinary Clinic
  • Humane Education
  • Outreach and Events
  • Leadership
  • Boutique/Retail

Cost: $250 fee covers staff and materials for training.

Due to a restructuring of the Teen Volunteer Training Program, we will not be accepting applications for the May 7th 2017 filing date as previously posted. We are working to enhance our program for our teens by making it more flexible and accessible for everyone. For any questions regarding this change in the program, please feel free to contact us at arfteens@arflife.org or at 925-296-3152. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Our new and improved program is anticipated to launch in January 2018. During this yearlong program, teens will be provided with opportunities to volunteer as well as develop academically through educational workshops with humane themes. The new system will allow for teens to choose which days they want to volunteer or attend workshops, according to their changing and busy schedules. After their one year commitment teens may re-apply to the program so as to extend their stay for another year, where they will have opportunities to work with cats and dogs, in the clinic or boutique, or become a camp counselor.

An application deadline for the new program will be posted at a later date.
