Lend a paw to animals in need!

ARF's dedicated volunteer foster families save lives every time they open their homes and hearts to a homeless animal. Each year, more than 1,200 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens spent time growing, healing, and receiving much-needed TLC in loving foster homes.

ARF provides:

  • Supplies (food, bedding, crate, toys, litter)
  • Support of full-time Foster Supervisor
  • Surgery, medications, and vaccinations
  • Full-service clinic to handle medical needs
  • Adoption services when your foster animal returns to ARF

Fostering is a wonderful opportunity to volunteer together as a family or care for a pet without a long-term adoption commitment. Join us as a foster parent and start saving lives!

Foster Orientation

Get the scoop on the joys of caring for dogs or cats, kittens, or puppies in your home and hear about the realities and rewards of fostering from experienced foster parents and ARF's Foster Supervisor at a foster orientation. Bring your concerns and questions to this free, no-obligation presentation and get started!

Continuing education classes for existing ARF foster parents are also available.

Doggy's Day Off

UPDATE: ARF's Doggy Day Off foster short-term program is currently on hold. We will update our volunteers when the program re-opens.

ARF's Doggy's Day Off foster program allows adoptable dogs to spend a day or two away from the shelter. For people who aren't ready for a full-time pet, or even a long-term foster, it's a great opportunity to squeeze a little dog time into your busy schedule. Look for our special "Doggy's Day Off Foster Orientation" sessions here.
